The vehicles braking system is the key safety feature of every motor vehicle. Depressing of the brake pedal (working in conjunction with the brake booster and master cylinder) pushes hydraulic brake fluid through the brake lines which forces the brake pads (housed in the brake calliper) onto the brake disc rotor. This in turn causes friction and ultimately reduces the vehicle speed. We are also able to carry out a Platetronic brake test measuring the side-to-side and front-to-rear brake force distribution.
It is recommended you have your brakes checked on a regular basis, at least once a year. However, immediately book an appointment at Phil Gilbert Toyota in the following cases:
- If the steering wheel vibrates when you brake
- If the brake pedal reacts differently (harder or softer)
- If the brakes don’t respond immediately or you need more distance to come to a full stop,
If the brakes and/or ABS signals are lit on your dashboard (please consult your car manual to see what these signals look like).
